Sarah Worthington suggests this magical mystery tour:

The variety and richness of things to see in Aylesbury is really quite unique – in a short distance you can take in stunning scenery, amazing architecture, historical significance and something a little bit quirky to boot...

Not convinced?: try taking the Aylesbury 323/324 bus towards High Wycombe and make sure you sit on the top deck for the best view. In Butlers Cross, just past the Russell Arms (and the road to the prime minister's country manor) you will see the graceful sweeping lines of the Whiteleaf Cross escarpment which has a chalk cross carved into it. I always enjoy watching its changing shape as you pass by. (If you get a chance to stop the views from the top of it across the vale of Aylesbury are simply spectacular too.) Just past this on the right you will see the fabulous Great Kimble flint encrusted church.

ostrichesNOW peel your eyes for an unexpected sight which makes me smile every time - from the top deck you are in the best vantage point.

On the left, just past a lay by, up an embankment, behind some trees you can catch a glimpse of some stunning deer and OSTRICHES!
